Abamectin is a naturally derived macrocyclic lactone compound obtained from the soil bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis. It is widely used as a broad-spectrum insecticide and acaricide, especially effective against mites and leafminers in a wide range of crops. Abamectin works through ingestion and contact, paralyzing the pests' nervous system and leading to death within 3–5 days.

Due to its low application rate, minimal environmental residue, and high efficacy, Abamectin is a preferred choice for both conventional and integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
