  • Description

    Product Name: Carpropamid
    Chemical Name: 2-(1-Carboxy-1-methylethylamino)-3-chloropyridine
    Chemical Family: Amide herbicide
Common Use: Pre-emergent Herbicide for Paddy Rice
    CAS Number: 120923-37-7
Formulation Types: 20% WP, 25% SC, 300g/L SC (customizable)

    Product Description:

Carpropamid is a specialized pre-emergent herbicide designed for selective weed control in paddy rice fields. It effectively controls annual grasses, especially Echinochloa spp. (barnyard grass), one of the most damaging weeds in rice cultivation. Carpropamid works by inhibiting very-long-chain fatty acid (VLCFA) synthesis, disrupting weed seed germination and early growth, while being safe for rice seedlings when used as directed.

Due to its excellent residual activity, Carpropamid offers season-long weed suppression with a single application. It is ideal for use in direct-seeded and transplanted rice systems, and can be integrated into resistance management strategies for sustainable weed control.

    Key Features & Benefits:

    • Highly Effective Against Barnyard Grass (Echinochloa spp.)

    • Long Residual Control for extended weed suppression

    • Low Solubility and High Soil Binding – minimizes leaching and runoff

    • Safe for Paddy Rice under recommended application

    • Resistant to degradation in flooded fields, ideal for wetland use

    • Supports Integrated Weed Management (IWM) strategies

    Recommended Use:

    Target Crops:

    • Paddy Rice (Direct-seeded and Transplanted)

    Target Weeds:

    • Echinochloa crus-galli (Barnyard grass)

    • Leptochloa spp.

    • Digitaria spp.

    • Other common annual grasses in wet rice systems

    Application Guidelines:

    • Application Method: Pre-emergence soil treatment

    • Timing: Apply within 3–5 days after sowing or transplanting, before weed emergence

    • Recommended Dosage:

      • 300–600 g/ha, depending on weed pressure and field conditions

    • Water Volume: 300–500 L/ha for uniform soil coverage

    • Ensure the soil is moist or flooded to activate the herbicide effectively

    Formulations Available:

    • Carpropamid 20% WP (Wettable Powder)

    • Carpropamid 25% SC / 300g/L SC (Suspension Concentrate)

    • Other formulations can be customized upon request

    Packaging:

    • Available in 100g, 250g, 500g, and 1kg packs

    • Bulk packaging for commercial use available

    Storage & Handling:

    • Store in a cool, dry, and ventilated area, away from sunlight and moisture

    • Keep out of reach of children and animals

    • Use protective gloves and masks during handling

    • Do not contaminate water bodies or reuse empty containers

    Shelf Life:

    • 2 years from manufacturing date when stored in original sealed packaging under recommended conditions

    Conclusion:

Carpropamid offers targeted, reliable, and long-lasting control of problematic grass weeds in rice paddies. Its soil-binding properties and resistance to leaching make it an ideal herbicide for flooded rice conditions. Whether you're managing direct-seeded or transplanted rice, Carpropamid helps ensure a weed-free start and a healthy, high-yielding crop.
