      Product Detail

Calcium oxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CaO and is commonly known as quicklime. The physical property is a white powder on the surface. Impure ones are grayish white, and when containing impurities, they appear light yellow or gray. It has hygroscopicity. Calcium oxide is an alkaline oxide and is sensitive to moisture. It readily absorbs carbon dioxide and moisture from the air. It reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH) 2) and generates a large amount of heat, and is corrosive.

Calcium oxide is also an inorganic dehydrating agent. It reacts with water to produce calcium hydroxide and can also absorb carbon dioxide. Calcium oxide powder can be added to some special sealant, water-curable adhesive and other systems. Calcium oxide can be used as an analytical reagent, as a carbon dioxide absorbent in gas analysis, as a spectral analysis reagent, and as a high-purity reagent in the epitaxial and diffusion processes of semiconductor production, for drying ammonia gas in laboratories and dehydrating alcohols, etc. Quicklime is generally obtained by calcining limestone. Due to its excellent water absorption performance, quicklime has long been used to make desiccants. The main component of quicklime desiccants is calcium oxide, and the drying principle is that calcium oxide reacts with water absorption to form calcium hydroxide. Because of its low cost and high cost performance, it is widely used in various industries such as food and clothing. For the identification test, take 1g of the sample, shake it together with 20ml of water, and add acetic acid solution (TS-1) until the sample dissolves. The calcium test (IT-10) of this solution was positive. For content analysis, take approximately 1g of the sample, burn it to a constant weight (precise weighing), and dissolve it in 20ml of dilute hydrochloric acid solution (TS-117). After cooling, dilute with water to 500.0ml and mix well. Take 50.0ml of this solution into an appropriate container and add 50ml of water. Under stirring (preferably with a magnetic stirrer), add approximately 30ml of 0.05mol/L disodium EDTA through a 50ml burette, then add 15ml of sodium hydroxide solution (TS-224) and 300mg of hydroxynaphthol blue indicator, and continue titrating until the blue endpoint. Each ml of 0.05mol/L EDTA is equivalent to 2.804mg of calcium oxide.
