    Tris(octadecyl) phosphite is an organophosphate ester. It is a colorless or slightly yellow viscous liquid with a density of about 0.88 g/cm3.The compound has surface-active properties and is a nonionic surfactant. Tris(octadecyl) phosphite has good solubility in many organic solvents and can form micelles in water. It has good emulsifying, wetting and thickening abilities, and is often used as an emulsifier, wetting agent and stabilizer. Tris(octadecyl) phosphite is usually prepared by reacting trihexadecylamine with phosphoric anhydride. The reaction process requires controlled temperature and reaction time and is usually carried out in an inert atmosphere. SAFETY INFORMATION: Tri-octadecyl phosphite is generally relatively safe under normal conditions of use, but care should be taken to prevent inhalation and contact with skin. During handling and storage, care should be taken to avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents and acids.
