Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose is an important variety of non - ionic cellulose mixed ether. Odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, its finished products are white powder or loose fiber, particle size through 80 mesh sieve. It does not react with heavy metals. The proportion of methoxy group content and hydroxypropyl group content in the finished product is different, the viscosity is different, and the performance is different.

HPMC is actually a methyl cellulose modified by epoxy methane (methyl oxypropyl ring), so it has similar characteristics of methyl cellulose soluble in cold water, insoluble in hot water, solubility in organic solvents is better than water soluble, it can dissolve in anhydrous methanol and ethanol, It can also be dissolved in chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloromethane, trichloroethane and organic solvents such as acetone, isopropyl alcohol and diacetone alcohol.
