Chemical properties: White or off white powder.
Usage: Asymmetric synthesis of chiral reagents. Used for synthesizing HIV protease inhibitors. Application: Pharmaceutical intermediate, mainly used for asymmetric chiral synthesis

Production methods: (1) 3-Cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone is synthesized by reacting with ammonia under the catalysis of cobalt and hydrogen, at a reaction pressure of 15.2 MPa (150 atm) and a temperature of 120℃.
(2) Using Chemicalbook, three molecules of acetone are condensed to form isophorone, which is then further reacted with HCN to add to the double bond of isophorone, yielding isophorone nitrile (3-cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone). This is then reduced and aminated in the presence of H2 to obtain the product.
