Itramod is a novel, oral, selective sphingosine monophosphate (S1P) receptor modulator that partially and reversibly blocks lymphocyte outflow, reducing the number of lymphocytes in peripheral blood and thus reducing lymphocyte migration to the intestine, thereby exerting a therapeutic effect. Compared to other S1P modulators (such as sinimod), iletramod reduces the risk of adverse reactions such as bradycardia and pulmonary dysfunction by circumventing S1P2/3 receptors.
