Netupitant More Info

Netupitant is a highly selective neuropeptide-1 receptor antagonist that exerts its antiemetic effect primarily by competitively binding to the NK1 receptor in place of substance P. It is typically used in combination with palonosetron (as the fixed-dose combination NEPA) for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.

Mechanism of Action:

Netupitant is a selective NK1 receptor antagonist. It blocks substance P from binding to NK1 receptors in the central nervous system, preventing both acute and delayed chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). It penetrates the blood-brain barrier and provides long-lasting receptor occupancy (>75% for up to 96 hours).

Applications ：

Prevention of CINV, especially delayed-phase vomiting from highly emetogenic chemotherapy

Used as fixed-dose combination with palonosetron

Potential use in chemoradiotherapy settings.
