Description

Chemical Properties: White crystalline powder. Melting point 173-174℃ (172℃, 174-176℃). Soluble in hot water, sparingly soluble in cold water, readily soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform, and acetic acid. Reacts with ferric chloride to produce a reddish-purple color. Uses: Intermediate in dyes and pharmaceuticals. Production Method: Chlorobenzene is added to an enamel pot and the water content is evaporated to below 0.03%. Salicylic acid is added, and chlorination is uniformly passed through at 110±2℃ until the predetermined amount is reached. A sample is taken and observed. The precipitate is cooled to 30℃, filtered, and the melting point is measured. A melting point of 167-175℃ is considered acceptable, yielding a chlorobenzene solution of 5-chlorosalicylic acid. If the chlorination reaction is carried out under fluorescent light, the theoretical amount can be chlorinated at 55-80℃. After sampling and testing to ensure it passes, the residual chlorine is removed, the mixture is cooled, filtered, washed with chlorobenzene, and dried to obtain the finished product.
