    Lanatoside C (also known as isolanid) is a natural cardiac glycoside isolated from the leaves of the plant Digitalis lanata (woolly foxglove). It belongs to the same pharmacological family as digoxin and digitoxin. Clinically, it is used to manage congestive heart failure and supraventricular cardiac arrhythmias (such as atrial fibrillation), though recent biomedical research also highlights its powerful anticancer, antiviral, and anti-aging (senolytic) properties. 
    The primary biological functions and mechanisms of Lanatoside C include:
    1. Cardiovascular Regulation (Primary Clinical Function)
    Lanatoside C regulates cardiac performance through direct cellular pump inhibition and autonomic nervous system modulation:
    • Positive Inotropic Effect (Increased Force): It binds to and inhibits the extracellular face of the Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase pump on cardiac muscle cell membranes. This halts the extrusion of sodium (Na⁺), causing intracellular sodium accumulation. High internal sodium shifts the concentration gradient, slowing down the Na⁺/Ca²⁺ exchanger (NCX).
