Product Detail

Metyrapone is a white crystalline powder with a melting point of 50–53 °C. It is soluble in ethanol and chloroform, and slightly soluble in water.

As an adrenocortical function inhibitor and selective 11-β hydroxylase inhibitor, it suppresses cortisol synthesis. Clinically, it is applied for the treatment of adrenocortical tumors, Cushing’s syndrome and other related disorders. It can also be utilized in diagnostic tests for hypothalamic-pituitary function.
