2 - Iodoacetylbenzoic acid, abbreviated as IBX, is a leading green, high-valent, iodine-based selective oxidizing agent in the field of organic synthesis. Its key advantages include controlled oxidation, the absence of over-oxidation, and mild reaction conditions, making it widely used in the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and in the experimental R&D of chemical reagents. In a DMSO system at room temperature, it can efficiently oxidize primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones without generating carboxylic acids throughout the process, making it suitable for most drug skeletons containing sensitive functional groups; In excess, the reagent can convert saturated carbonyl compounds into α,β-unsaturated carbonyl products in a single step, or oxidize the benzyl carbon to yield aromatic ketone intermediates, making it suitable for the total synthesis routes of peptides, steroids, and heterocyclic APIs. It can oxidize ortho-diols, oximes, and sulfonimides to yield the corresponding carbonyl compounds, and catalyze the cyclization of unsaturated amides to prepare pharmaceutical heterocycles such as lactams; it is also a key upstream raw material for the preparation of the Dais-Martin oxidizing agent (DMP). Compared to heavy-metal oxidizing agents, it is more environmentally friendly and readily biodegradable. Supported IBX can be recovered and reused, making it suitable for both laboratory-scale R&D and small-to-medium-batch production in the fine chemicals industry.
