TAK-861 (Oveporexton) is an oral selective orexin type 2 receptor (OX2R) agonist developed by Takeda Pharmaceutical. It is intended for the treatment of type 1 narcolepsy (NT1) [2] [7]. On July 14, 2025, Takeda announced that its two key Phase III studies for type 1 narcolepsy (NT1) achieved all primary and secondary endpoints. It demonstrated statistically significant improvements in various symptoms such as excessive daytime sleepiness and syncope, and had good overall tolerability [8]. Takeda is advancing the regulatory filing for this drug [8]. The drug was included in the breakthrough therapy designation by the China National Medical Products Administration's Drug Evaluation Center (CDE) in September 2024 [3] [13]. In January 2026, its application for listing in China was accepted and was proposed to be included in the priority review [2] [4]. Takeda plans to submit a new drug application to global regulatory agencies such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the fiscal year 2025.
