Product Detail

Dichloromethyl carbonate, also known as trichloromethyl carbonate or solid phosgene. Boiling point: 203–206 °C (partial decomposition); has an odor similar to phosgene; insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran, benzene, cyclohexane, and chloroform. It can serve as a substitute in virtually all reactions involving the highly toxic phosgene and the extremely lacrimatory diphosgene.

Applications:
As a substitute for the highly toxic phosgene and diphosgene in synthesis, this product has low toxicity, is safe and convenient to use, and offers mild reaction conditions, good selectivity, and high yields.
It is used in the synthesis of chloroformates, isocyanates, polycarbonates, and acyl chlorides, among others.
