KPV (H-Lys-Pro-Val-OH) is a bioactive tripeptide corresponding to amino acid residues 11–13 of α-MSH (α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone). Compared to full-length α-MSH, KPV retains potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties while eliminating the melanogenic activity. It inhibits the NF-κB signaling pathway and reduces the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β.
KPV is characterized by low molecular weight and excellent water solubility, demonstrating good tissue permeability.
