It has a role as an antimicrobial agent, an antifungal agent, a renal agent and an antiinfective agent. It is a C-nitro compound and a monohydroxyquinoline.|Nitroxoline is a urinary antibacterial agent active against susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative organisms commonly found in urinary tract infections.
