TSM is an advanced bioactive hydrogel inspired by the wet adhesion properties of mussels. The active ingredients primarily consist of Tannic Acid (TA) , Silk Fibroin (SF) , and therapeutic agents such as Minocycline Hydrochloride (MCH) . Through hydrogen bonding between the amide bonds of SF and the phenolic hydroxyl groups of TA, a stable β-sheet network is formed. The therapeutic agent is then incorporated into this network via dynamic Schiff base reactions under mild aqueous conditions.

Upon application, the hydrogel forms a robust bond with tissue surfaces even in the presence of blood or saliva. This strong adhesion extends the local retention time of the material.
