                        • Product Overview

                          4-Butylaniline (p-butylaniline) is an organic compound with the molecular formula C₁₀H₁₅N and molecular weight of 149.23 g/mol. It is a colorless to light yellow liquid or crystalline solid at room temperature, serving as a valuable intermediate in the synthesis of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals. The compound is a substituted aniline with a butyl group at the para position.

                          Synthetic Process

                          4-Butylaniline is synthesized through various routes:

                          • Reduction of 4-Butylnitrobenzene: 4-Butylnitrobenzene is reduced using hydrogenation catalysts (such as Raney nickel or palladium on carbon) or chemical reducing agents (such as iron powder in acidic medium) to yield 4-butylaniline

                          • Friedel-Crafts Alkylation: Aniline can be alkylated with butyl halides in the presence of Lewis acid catalysts to produce butylaniline isomers, with para isomer separation

                          • Purification: The crude product is purified by distillation or recrystallization to achieve high purity
