    Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro (MEHFPGP), developed in Russia in the 1980s as a modified analogue of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) fragment 4-10. The N-terminal methionine substitution and C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension enhance stability, resistance to enzymatic degradation, and confer nootropic, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties. Semax has been studied for its effects on cognitive function, memory, attention, stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases, and is used in research in Russia and some other countries for the research application of cognitive impairments and neurological conditions.
