LL-37 is a human endogenous antimicrobial peptide and the only known member of the cathelicidin family expressed in humans. Composed of 37 amino acid residues (sequence: LLGDFFRKSKEKIGKEFKRIVQRIKDFLRNLVPRTES), LL-37 is cleaved from its precursor hCAP18 and plays a key role in innate immune defense.
