Priary Use ： Principal uses are very broad: in polymers as reaction solvent/processing aid for PVC, PVDC, polyether-type polyurethanes; in pharma and fine chemicals as intermediate for cephalosporins, steroids, vitamin E; preferred solvent for Grignard, organolithium and other organometallic reactions; cathode/anode slurry solvent for Li-ion batteries; chromatography, extraction and natural-product isolation; also to make polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG for spandex/PU elastomers), gamma-butyrolactone, butadiene. Combines ether solvency with moderate polarity and stability toward organometallics (under oxygen-free, anhydrous conditions).
