Description

Sodium cyanoborohydride is a mild reducing agent, white or slightly yellow solid powder. It is widely used for reduction of aldehydes and ketones, especially for reductive amination of ketones (Borch reductive amination). It is less reducing than sodium borohydride, but stable under acidic conditions around pH 3, which makes it suitable for reducing iminium cations.

Applications

It is a reducing agent for organic synthesis, applied in the reduction of aldehydes, ketones, oximes and enamines.
