Description

Acetyl Octapeptide-1, commonly known by its trade name SNAP-8, is a synthetic bioactive peptide widely utilized in the cosmetic and skincare industries for its potent anti-wrinkle properties. It is an extended version of the well-known Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-3), designed to offer enhanced stability and efficacy in reducing dynamic facial lines.

Drug Information

Acetyl Octapeptide-1 functions as a competitive inhibitor of the SNARE complex formation. Specifically, it mimics the N-terminal domain of the SNAP-25 protein. By competing with native SNAP-25 for binding sites within the SNARE complex, it destabilizes the complex required for the release of neurotransmitters (such as acetylcholine) at the neuromuscular junction. This process mildly inhibits muscle contraction without causing complete paralysis, thereby reducing the formation of dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions.

Acetyl Octapeptide-1 Use and Manufacturing

It is primarily incorporated into anti-aging serums, creams, eye treatments, and masks. Due to its peptide nature, formulation stability is crucial, and it is often recommended for use in products with appropriate pH levels and preservative systems to maintain bioactivity.
