5-Methoxynicotinic acid Use and Manufacturing
To a solution of methyl 5-methoxynicotinate 1136 (300 mg, 1.79 mmol) in a mixture of THF (4 mL) and methanol (4 mL) was added NaOH (2 M aqueous solution, 3 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 14 hours. The solvent was removed and the residue obtained diluted with water (20 mL). The pH of the aqueous mixture was adjusted to 6 by addition of a 2 M aqueous HCI solution.
