Description
White SolidSarpogrelate hydrochloride, a potent and selective serotonin 5-HT2 receptor antagonist, was launched in Japan as an antithrombotic. It exhibits inhibition of ex vivo platelet aggregation stimulated by serotonin in combination with collagen and suppression of blood vessel constriction mediated by 5-HT2 in vitro. Its antithrombotic effects have been demonstrated in several in vivo experimental models including reduction of the mortality rate in acute pulmonary.

Drug Function and Efficacy
1. It has a specific antagonistic effect on the 5-HT2 receptors of platelets and vascular smooth muscle, showing antiplatelet and vasoconstriction inhibitory effects; 2. It has an inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation, including the inhibition of platelet aggregation caused by collagen, ADP or adrenaline in exovivo tests and invitro tests in healthy adults and patients with chronic arterial occlusive disease; 3. It has an anti-thrombotic effect, and can inhibit the formation of peripheral arterial occlusion and arterial thrombosis in animal models; 4. It has an inhibitory effect on vasoconstriction, and can inhibit the contraction of vascular smooth muscle caused by 5-hydroxytryptamine in the invitro test of vascular smooth muscle of rats; 5. It improves microcirculation, and can increase the transcutaneous tissue oxygen partial pressure and skin surface temperature of patients with chronic arterial occlusive disease, and improve collateral blood circulation disorders in animal models.
