Description
White or almost white, crystalline powder.
Dipivefrin hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of dipivefrin. It is used topically as eye drops to reduce intra-ocular pressure in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It has a role as an adrenergic agonist, a sympathomimetic agent and an antiglaucoma drug. It contains a dipivefrin(1+).

Drug Function and Efficacy
Dipifoline is a prodrug of adrenaline. It has no biological activity. After entering the ocular tissue, it is hydrolyzed into adrenaline and exerts biological effects, causing mydriasis and lowering intraocular pressure. The intraocular pressure lowering effect works by reducing aqueous humor secretion and improving aqueous humor flow coefficient. After one drop of 0.1% dipifoline solution is injected into the eye, intraocular pressure begins to be lowered 30 minutes later, and the maximum effect is achieved in 1 to 2 hours, which lasts for about 10 to 12 hours. It has an additive effect when used in combination with pilocarpine or b-adrenergic receptor blockers.
