Description
Cefmetazole sodium is a semisynthetic cephamycin antibiotic. Target: AntibacterialCefmetazole sodium has a broad spectrum of activity comparable to that of the second-generation cephalosporins, covering gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria. Unlike the second-generation cephalosporins, cephamycins such as cefmetazole are usually active against Bacteroides fragilis. Cefmetazole is also active against beta-lactamase-producing organisms that are resistant to first-generation

Cefmetazole sodium Use and Manufacturing
Take 40g of the 7-methoxycephalosporin nucleus, added with 200ml of ethyl acetate and 200ml N'N-dimethylformamide, dissolved, at 0 deg. C added with 22g cyanomethylacetyl potassium, reaction for 30min, added with water and glacial acetic acid to adjust the pH to 2, extraction, the ethyl acetate layer was added 6percent aqueous sodium bicarbonate, washed once with an aqueous solution of 20g of alumina to decolorize, filtered, and the aqueous solution was added 20g methyl isobutyl ketone and 20percent phosphoric acid to adjust the pH2, cooled to 5 deg. C, crystallization 5h, filter cake at 40 deg. C under vacuum drying 6h, obtained 32g cefmetazole sodium, identified above by HPLC purity of 99 percent, the biggest single hetero less than 0.2percent, less than 0.5percent of total miscellaneous, color grade No. 2.
