Disodium fumarate Use and Manufacturing
Fumaric acid is obtained by neutralizing sodium carbonate. Heat the water to boiling, add fumaric acid with stirring. Add sodium carbonate in portions until pH=6.5-6.7. Stir thoroughly and filter while hot to obtain sodium fumarate solution.
The product is replaced with ferrous sulfate to obtain ferric fumarate, that is, medical blood iron, which is used to treat small red blood cell anemia.
