It is cyclized with catechol and dichloromethane under alkaline conditions to form a pepper ring, which is then reacted with paraformaldehyde and hydrochloric acid and chloromethylated to produce the product.

Uses

Piperonyl Chloride is used as a reagent in the synthesis of anti-proliferative hydroxyguanidine compounds.
