Description
Beryllium hydroxide, with the chemical formula Be(OH)₂, is a white, amorphous powder that decomposes to beryllium oxide upon heating to 138 °C. It exhibits slight solubility in water. Beryllium hydroxide is amphoteric, meaning it can react with both acids and bases. In acidic solutions, it forms beryllium salts, while in alkaline solutions, it dissolves to form beryllate ions, such as sodium tetrahydroxoberyllate.
