The cystine was dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid, bromine was added dropwise, and the temperature of the reaction solution rose to about 60°C. The reaction solution was evaporated under reduced pressure, the residue was dissolved in distilled water, and insoluble materials were filtered off. The filtrate was concentrated, cooled and crystallized, filtered, and the filter cake was washed with ethanol and dried to obtain L-sulfoalanine with a yield of 81-90%.
A major metabolite of non-essential amino acid L-Cysteine.
