N-Methyl-N-[(phenylmethoxy)carbonyl]glycine Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Compound 3 sarcosine (3.00 g, 33.67 mmol) was added to a solution of NaOH (3.24 g, 80.90 mmol) in water (100 mL) and stirred homogeneously on an ice-water bath. CbzCl (6.89 g, 40.39 mmol) was added dropwise. After stirring at room temperature for 16 hours, the TLC monitored the reaction of the starting material. The reaction was washed with ethyl acetate (2 x 100 mL) and the aqueous layer was washed with 1 M hydrochloric acid to pH 2 and then extracted with ethyl acetate (2 x 150 mL). The combined ethyl acetate solution was washed with saturated NaCl solution, dried over anhydrous (100 mL) of NaA.
