3,5-Difluorophenylalanine Use and Manufacturing

General procedure: The suspension of amino acids (1 mmol) in THF (0.5 mL) wastreated with LiAlH4 (2 mmol) slowly under ice bath. The mixturewas heated to 70-80 C and stirred for 3hrs. After it was cooledunder ice bath, 4 drops of water was added, followed by treatmentof potassium carbonate. The resulting suspensionwas filtered, thenthe filtrate solution was concentrated in vacuo. The residue waspurified by column chromatography on silica gel using CH2Cl2/MeOH (20:1-10:1) as eluent to gain the corresponding amino alcohols.The suspension of amino alcohols (1 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (4 mL)were treated with DIPEA (3 mmol) and (Boc)2O (3 mmol), followedby stirring at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixturewas diluted with CH2Cl2 (4 mL) and washed with saturated NH4Cl(4 mL) followed by concentration of the organic layer.
