Description

Nylon 6/66 is a copolymer made from caprolactam (used to make Nylon 6) and a condensate of adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine (used to make Nylon 66). Nylon 6/66 combines the advantages of Nylon 6 and Nylon 66, with excellent mechanical properties, wear resistance and chemical resistance. It is a white to pale yellow solid. The density is about 1.12-1.14 g/cm³, the melting point is about 210-220°C, it is insoluble in water, soluble in strong acids (such as formic acid) and some organic solvents.

Nylon 6/66 Use and Manufacturing

Uses

Nylon 6/66 is used in the textile industry to make high-strength fibers such as clothing, carpets and industrial fabrics. As a blending material, it improves the wear resistance and elasticity of the fabric. Nylon 6/66 is used in engineering plastics to make mechanical parts, gears, bearings and automotive parts. As a high-performance plastic, it is used in the electrical and electronic industries (such as connectors and insulation materials). In addition, it can also be used to manufacture films and packaging materials, daily necessities such as toothbrushes, combs, sports equipment, ropes, nets and filter materials, and 3D printing materials.
