2-AMINO-4-METHOXYBENZYL ALCOHOL Use and Manufacturing

General procedure: To a solution of 6-chloroanthranilic acid (1.5 g, 8.74 mmol) in THF (5 mL) was added dropwise 1.08 M borane–tetrahydrofuran complex in THF (24.3 mL, 26.2 mmol) at 0 °C under an Ar atmosphere for 10 min. After 1.5 h with stirring at 30 °C, the solution was cooled at 0 °C, added aqueous THF (THF/HGeneral procedure: Substituted (2-Nitrophenyl)methanol 12 was dissolved in ethanol (0.2 M) and Pd/C (10percent w/w, 5mol percent) was added. The suspension was stirred under H2 atmosphere at room temperature over 1 h.After completion (monitored by TLC), the mixture was then filtered through a pad of Celite® andrinsed several times with ethyl acetate. The filtrate was then concentrated under reduced pressure togive the crude aniline which was precipitated in a mixture of petroleum ether : ethyl acetate (9 : 1).The mixture was then filtrate and the solid was washed three times with the mixture of solvent to givethe desire product 11.Intermediate 109: (2-Amino-4-methoxyphenyr)methanolTo a solution of commercially available 4-methoxy-2-nitrobenzoic acid (4.0 g, 20.66 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) at -15
