To a solution of 4 (30 mmol, 5.56 g) in toluene (100 mL), 77percent 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid (150 mmol, 33.62 g) was added and the mixture was refluxed for 6 h. After cooling the mixture was filtered and the filtrate was washed with 10percent sodium hydroxide (2×100 mL), brine (100 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and evaporated. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography.
