The topical application of borage extract (Borago officinalis)(borago) is described as anti-inflammatory. It is beneficial for sensitive skin and allergic reactions. Borage contains potassium and calcium, combined with mineral acids. This is a hardy annual plant of which the leaves-and to a lesser degree, the flower-are used.
borage seed oil (borage oil) is an effective anti-irritant, it has demonstrated hydrating properties and an ability to improve cases of pruritis and xerosis. It is a rich source of gamma-linolenic acid.
