Description
Cub; -20 mesh 99.5% purity [CER91] [CRC10]Calcium telluride has the molecular formula of CaTe and the molecular weight of 167.6782 g/mol. It can be prepared by heating the elements together in an inert
atmosphere: Ca+ Te+ heat CaTe
Te melts at 450°C and Ca melts at 842°C. A heating temperature of 750°C is sufficient to cause complete reaction. CaTe powder can also be prepared by reaction of stoichiometric quantities of Ca and Te in a pure graphite crucible in vacuumat 480°C.
Calcium telluride (CaTe) Use and Manufacturing
CaTe has found very little usage in industry and the only available information academically deals with its usage to form ternary tellurides. It is available commercially in limited quantities.
