3, 5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)aniline (2 g, 8.7 mmol, 1 equiv) was dissolved in DMF (6 mL, 1.5 M). N-bromosuccinimide (1.7 g, 9.6 mmol, 1.1 equiv) was added, and this mixture was stirred at 50 °C for one hour.
