3-CHLORO-4-IODOPHENOL Use and Manufacturing

General procedure: 2-iodophenol (1.00 g, 4.54 mmol) and imidazole (0.62 g, 9.09 mmol) were dissolved in DMF (10 ml) under argon atmosphere. A solution of TBDMSCl (1.03 g, 6.81 mmol) in DMF (2 mL) was added dropwise at rt over 5 min and the obtained mixture was stirred for 2 h. The mixture was diluted with ice water, extracted with diethyl ether, the organic layer was washed 3 times with water, brine, and dried over Na2SO4. The solvent is removed under reduced pressure and the residue was chromatographed on silica gel (EtOAc in petroleum ether, 1:10) to give compound 6a (1.50 g, 99%) as a colorless oil. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) delta 7.76 (dd, J = 7.9, 1.7 Hz, 1H), 7.20 (ddd, J = 8.1, 7.3, 1.7 Hz, 1H), 6.83 (dd, J = 8.1, 1.4 Hz, 1H), 6.68 (td, J = 7.6, 1.4 Hz, 1H), 1.06 (s, 9H), 0.28 (s, 6H).
