7-Chloro-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one Use and Manufacturing
General procedure: Isatins (1a–j, 3.0 g), hydrazine hydrate (80percent, 13 mL) and water (13 mL) were added to a flask equipped with a thermometer with vigorous stirring. The reaction mixture was kept at 140 °C in an oil bath for 6 h before being cooled to r.t., when hydrochloric acid (2.0 mol L−1) was added to bring the pH to pH 2. The reaction mixture was stirred at r.t. for 12 h. Compounds 2a–j were obtained by filtering under vacuum and recrystallisation from absolute ethanol.General procedure: Weigh isatin (0.8g, 5.4mmol), the first of which was added 0.3g of 80% hydrazine hydrate (10ml) and heated to 100 C under reflux, was added portionwise remaining 0.5g, 2h addition was completed the temperature was raised to 110 C reflux was continued for 4h, cooled to room temperature, concentrated hydrochloric acid was added dropwise 36% was adjusted to pH = 3, stirring was continued at room temperature for 12h, the solid by suction filtration, washed with water and precipitation to give a brown solid (0.44g, 61%).(d) 7-chloro-oxindole, m.p. 218-220 C.
