Cyclopentylhydrazine hydrochloride Use and Manufacturing

Step 2: The mixture of tert-butyl carbazate (5.130 g, 38.04 mmol) and cyclopentanone(3.232 g, 38.04 mmol) in hexane (50 mL) was heated at reflux for 60 minutes.White solid thus obtained was filtered and washed with hexane. 6.552 g ofintermediate compound (Schiff’s base) were obtained. To this compound, 1 .01eq. of 1M borane soLution in tetrahydrofuran were added to obtain a clear mixture. The whole was stirred at room temperature until cLear mixture was obtained. The mixture was stirred at room temperature until the evolution of hydrogen ceased (10 minutes). Then 6 eq. of 6M HCl were added and the mixturewas heated at reflux for 45 minutes. The whole was concentrated to the constant weight to obtain 7.11 g of a crystalline, white solid. The solid was washed with tetrahydrofuran and filtered. 5.576 g of the title product in the form of white powder were obtained (yield 84.7percent).
