5,7-DICHLOROTHIENO[3,2-B]PYRIDINE Use and Manufacturing

(1) A mixture of Malonic acid (2.66 g, 25.5 rnmol) and thiophen-3 -amine (2.53 g5 25.5 mmol) were suspended in phosphorous oxychloride (50 mL). The solution was refluxed overnight under nitrogen. The solution was cooled, quenched with ice water, neutralized with solid NaHCO3, extracted with CH2Cl25 dried, and concentrated. Flash chromatography (10% EtOAc/hexanes) gave the title compound as a yellow solid.
