13,6-(EPITHIOIMINO)PENTACENE-16-CARBOXYLIC ACID, 6,13-DIHYDRO-, TERT BUTYL ESTER, 15-OXIDE Use and Manufacturing

Photo-patternable pentacene precursor that is easily soluble in non-polar organic solvents (halogenated solvents, THF). It can be converted to pentacene by heating at 150°C under N2 for 1 hour in a thin (eg spin-cast) film. The spin-coated pentacene precursor film can be patterned by exposure to ultraviolet light in the presence of a photoacid generator (such as 531014), followed by brief heating (130°C for 5 minutes) and washing off the unconverted precursor Change. The organic thin film transistor manufactured by solution processing of the precursor exhibits a mobility of 0.13 cm 2 V-1s-1 and a switching ratio of 2 mM105.
