ETHYL 10(METHYLSULFONYL)DECANOATE Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The castor oil and sodium hydroxide aqueous solution are heated and cracked to generate 10-hydroxydecanoic acid, which is then brominated with hydrobromic acid to obtain 10-bromodecanoic acid, and then esterified with ethanol under the action of sulfuric acid to obtain 10-bromodecanoic acid ethyl Ester, the latter reacts with methyl mercaptan and sodium metal to obtain ethyl 10-methylthio decanoate, which is then oxidized by hydrogen peroxide.

Uses

Intermediate of caulidin.
