alpha tocopheryl ferulate is a depigmenting agent that may be particularly effective in lightening hyperpigmentation resulting from uV exposure. It is said to inhibit melanin formation by suppressing tyrosinase activity. Alpha tocopheryl ferulate is obtained by reacting an alpha tocopherol ester with ferulic acid. Ferulic acid, like alpha tocopherol, is an anti-oxidant. It is also a uV absorber.
