5,6-Dimethyl-2-pyrazinamine Use and Manufacturing
Step 1: An aqueous solution (40.0 mL) of 2, 3-butanedione (1.55 g) and sodium acetate (4.72 g) was added to a methanol solution (40.0 mL) of 2-aminoacetamidine dihydrobromide (4.24 g) at - 30°C over 10 min. To an acetonitrile solution (8.00 mL) of the compound (519 mg) obtained in Reference Example 433 was added N-bromosuccinimide (749 mg) at 0C, and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min. Aqueous sodium thiosulfate solution was added and the mixture was extracted twice with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated, and the obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (solvent; hexane/ethyl acetate=100/0 - 60/40) to give the title compound (619 mg).
