3,5,6-Trichloro-2-pyridinol Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

2, 3, 5, 6-tetrachloropyridine 43.4 g (0.2 mol) and 240 mL of water were placed in a three-necked flask, and the temperature was raised to 95 ° C with stirring, and 39.53 g (0.60 mol) of potassium hydroxide having a purity of 85percent was weighed. and wherein the use of a small part of the solution is adjusted to PH 9.5~10, stirring was continued for 30 min, then filtered while hot to remove insoluble impurities. The filtrate was placed in a 500 mL autoclave, and 0.18 g of the remaining potassium hydroxide and benzyltrimethylammonium chloride were added, and the mixture was stirred and heated to 120 ° C for 4.0 h. After the reaction was completed, the temperature was lowered to 25 ° C. Adding 15percent hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH to 4.5 to 4.0, filtering, washing with water and drying to obtain 35.9 g of a white powder product. The purity of 3, 5, 6-trichloropyridinol in the product was 99.08percent by gas chromatographyChlorpyrifos (3.18 g, 30 mmol) was added to absolute ethanol (150 mL) and KOH (7.2 g) was added. The mixture was refluxed for 1 hour, cooled, and the ethanol was concentrated. Water (150 mL) was added and after adjusting to pH 3 with 2N HCl, the precipitated solid was stirred for 1 hour and the solid was filtered. The filtered solid was washed with water (100 mL) and dried in vacuo to give 3, 5, 6-trichloro-2-pyridinol (1.4 g) as a pale brown solid.

Uses

A metabolite of Chlorpyrifos (C425300).
