2.72 g (41.8 mmol) of sodium azide were added in portions to a solution of 6.11 g (41.8 mmol) of 3, 4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-one in conc. hydrochloric acid (75 ml) at 0° C. over a period of 1 h. Then stirring was performed for another 30 min at 0° C. and thereafter heating to RT over a period of 16 h.
