2-methyloctadecanoic acid is a methyl-branched fatty acid that is octadecanoic (stearic) acid bearing a methyl substituent at position 2. It is a branched-chain saturated fatty acid, a long-chain fatty acid and a methyl-branched fatty acid. It derives from an octadecanoic acid. It is a conjugate acid of a 2-methyloctadecanoate.
